I worked in the oil fields for 40 years and everytime the democrats came in power they put huge taxes on the oil companies and contractors , took away their incentives to drill etc . So the oil companies moved out of the country. So instead of the country getting money from the companies, now they got nothing and all the people working in the industry was without a job paying no taxes .

What do taxes even matter anymore? They conjure more money into existence in federal loans to buy up debt than they take in revenue annually. In less than a decade the debt payment will be over double the tax revenue. They and all of us are fucked. No escape except hyperinflation or default.

Hmm. It doesn't go to another state, if these people are "relocating" to a state that won't tax their personal income. Also, let's be real here: people at that level of income can easily "relocate" on paper, without disrupting their lives in any meaningful way. They basically do whatever they want in this system.

It worked on me! My company was laying people off in waves to make sure they stayed under the 50 people at one time thresholds. They also amped up the return to office requirements and made the "local" range a ridiculously large (and unfair) radius so that people had lengthy commutes. I left and went to a fully remote position. They are losing all of the best people... opposite of getting rid of the "dead wood" with layoffs. The people leaving on their own are those of us who have great track records. In fact, I followed a former VP who wooed me away.
